ABOUT JUDGE DUNKLIN
Judge Andy Dunklin has dedicated his life to serving the people of Smith County with integrity, fairness, and compassion. For over 40 years, he has been a devoted public servant. For the past 17 years, he has served Smith County Precinct 2 —first as Constable and now as Justice of the Peace.
A lifelong resident of this community, Judge Dunklin learned the value of hard work early on—working as a grocery sacker, plumber’s helper, dishwasher, and even milking cows on a dairy farm. Those early lessons shaped the character and work ethic that continue to define his service today.
Throughout his career, Judge Dunklin has earned numerous commendations from respected institutions, including the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the New York City Police Department. In recognition of his outstanding service, the City of Tyler declared May 17, 2017, “Andy Dunklin Day.”
As Justice of the Peace, Judge Dunklin has built a reputation as a fair and knowledgeable jurist. He and his dedicated staff manage the busiest lawsuit-filing court in Smith County, ensuring justice is served efficiently and with care. He has also worked closely with jail leadership to provide proper evaluation and care for inmates experiencing mental health crises—demonstrating his compassion and commitment to justice for all.
Beyond the courtroom, Judge Dunklin’s heart for service extends deep into the community. He has served as a Cub Scout leader, football referee, and Little League coach. He is a past board member of both the Boys & Girls Club and the Smith Baptist Association. Together with his wife, Linda, he has ministered to senior adults for over 15 years through South Spring Baptist Church, where they are longtime members.
Judge Dunklin’s decades of experience and extensive training from the Texas Department of Public Safety make him uniquely qualified to continue serving as Justice of the Peace, Precinct 2.
